Liz & Kate Pope
Kate and I have loved to doodle and mess with anything
arty from a young age! Both went from Chesterfield art college
to Staffordshire University and gained 1st class degrees in Surface
Pattern design.
Since then we have continued to develop our individual strengths, I am most happy simply sketching with my pencil and Kate loves combining colour and pattern, layering and creating decorative surfaces.
We never set out to work together but as briefs came in, we found that our styles bound together created something very quirky and unique!
Kate loves charity shops, she is always on the search for vintage fabrics & unusual papers, and my inspirations come from simple things in life like an old post office sign or a twisted toothpaste tube!
Over the years we have illustrated Children's books together, developed card ranges, stationary, art prints....and occasionally go our seperate ways with one off pieces for local galleries and exhibitions.
But we still love the surprise of how a piece can turn out when it's had a little bit of each other thrown in!
